Social Watch launches Annual Report featuring new development indexes
Social Watch will launch its Annual Report 2005 this 14 September in New York. “Roars and Whispers. Gender and Poverty: Promises vs. Action” presents two new indexes to measure social development, and concludes that the targets set for 2015 as part of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) will not be met.

Social Watch Philippines launched the Social Watch Philippines 2005 Report “Race for Survival Hurdles on the road to meeting the MDGs in 2015” and the Social Watch Annual Report 2005 “Roars and Whispers. Gender and poverty: promises vs. action” last September 8, 2005.

Asian People’s Summit Against Poverty
Over 12,000 people from different parts of the India, along with representatives from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Philippines and Malaysia, assembled at the People's Summit Against Poverty (PSAP) in Delhi, to express solidarity and to hold the governments accountable for promises made to the people in various national and international conventions.

Hundreds of organizations endorse the civil society Benchmark for the Millennium Summit+5
Last June 23 the General Assembly of the United Nations held hearings with NGOs, civil society organizations and the private sector, in preparation of the Millennium Summit+5 that will take place in September 2005.

Poverty, Human Rights and Security will be discussed by the heads of State and government of the world. Yet there are very limited opportunities for citizens to express themselves in this process. We need to make our voices heard.

Ministers urged to deal with regional issues
Activists from some Asian countries began a two-day discussion on Monday ahead of the Regional Ministerial Meeting on Millennium Development Goals (MDG) in Asia and the Pacific, which is scheduled to commence on Wednesday here, in the hope of pressing state leaders to produce concrete policies.

The High-level Dialogue on Financing for Development took place at UN Headquarters in New York on 27 and 28 June 2005. The overall theme of the High-level Dialogue was "The Monterrey Consensus: status of implementation and tasks ahead".
