The 2007 Social Watch Report, "in dignity and rights" provides an overview of social security systems worldwide, with an approach that emphasizes the right of people to live in dignity with secure livelihoods.

The 2007 Report focuses on how to turn into reality the universal right to social security presenting innovative ideas of  international experts as well as the perspective of civil society.

Social Watch is a network of non-governmental organizations in more than 70 countries that monitors progress and setbacks in the fulfilment of internationally agreed commitments against poverty and for gender equality. Its yearly report is the world's most highly recognized independent study on social development.

In addition to 48 Country Reports contributed by national groups that form part of the international Social Watch coalition, the report includes 13 Thematic Articles by experts on social security, as well as a global study based on indexes developed by Social Watch itself: the Basic Capabilities Index and the Gender Equity Index, and statistical and analytical sections on Food Security, Education, Information, Science and Technology, Public Expenditure, Development Assistance, Environment, Health, Reproductive Health, and Gender Equity.
