Social Watch participation in the Informal Interactive Hearings of the General Assembly

Social Watch

The Informal Interactive Hearings of the General Assembly with non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations and the private sector were held on 23 and 24 June 2005, in preparation of the Millennium Summit+5 that will take place in September 2005.

Members of Social Watch participated in the Informal Interactive Hearings of the General Assembly.

Mr. John Foster (North-South Institute, Canada), Mr. Prafulla Sahoo (Social Watch India, India) and Mr. Hassan Abdel Ati (National Civic Forum, Sudan) participated on the Strengthening the UN cluster.

Mr. Simon Stocker (European Solidarity Towards Equal Participation of People  - EUROSTEP, Belgium), Ms. Iara Pietricovsky (Instituto de Estudos Socioeconômicos -INESC, Brazil), Mr. John Foster (North-South Institute, Canada), Mr. Jens Martens (Global Policy Forum, Germany), Mr. Jagadananda (Centre for Youth and Social Development - CYSD, India), Mr. El Hassan Sayouty (Espace Associatif, Morocco), Mr. Isagani Serrano (Philippines Rural Reconstruction Movement, Philippines), Rehema Kerefu-Sameji (Women's Legal Aid Centre – WLAC, Tanzania), Roberto Bissio (Social Watch, Uruguay) participated on the Freedom from Want Cluster.

Ms. Areli Sandoval (DECA Equipo Pueblo, A.C., Mexico) and Ms. Karina Batthyány (Social Watch, Uruguay) participated on the Freedom to Live in Dignity cluster.

Ms. Maggie Schmeitz (Stichting Ultimate Purpose, Suriname) participated on the Freedom from Fear Cluster.
